1) how should i format my submission email?

in your email please be clear on what is what! also if you want to submit anonymously please explicitly say so, we don’t want any confusion. it is helpful to label things like this….

2) how should i make my thumbnail and what is it?

the thumbnail image is what you see on the homepage before you click on someones submission. I can select images from a series or screen grabs from a video if you do not have a preference on your thumbnail, BUT if you do… please crop you image to be horizontal 4x6 (4 tall, 6 wide) so your image is uniform with the rest of the site.

3) i have a physical piece of art or writing i want to submit but i don’t have a scanner?

you can scan with your iPhone using the notes app. when you open the app click the camera icon on the bottom of the screen and select “scan” — i use this resource all the time. there are also other apps that do this same thing if you do not have an iPhone.

4) how do i make a downloadable link?

method 1. google drive
steps:
1. upload your files to a folder
2. click share
3. select “get sharable link” in the top right corner
4. make sure to select “anyone with this link can view”
5. copy this link and put it in the email with the rest of your submission info.

method 2. wetransfer
steps:
1. upload your files
2. click the button with 2 little dots located in the bottom left
3. select “get transfer link”
4. click the blue button that says “get a link”
5. copy this link and put it in the email with the rest of your submission info.
there are also methods you can use like dropbox.

5) what format should i submit a video or song?

for a video you need to upload it to youtube and send us a link, the video does not have to be public it can be unlisted if that is better for you. for songs you can send us links to spotify, soundcloud, or youtube. we will be able to embed these links into the site and you will get views/streams.

6) how many times can i submit?

you can submit multiple separate works there is not a limit, but please send them in separate emails. each email should follow the format above. also, if you submit more times that does not increase your chances of being featured.

7) how many art pieces can i submit in a single submission?

there is not an exact number limit to this it depends on the person and the work. if you have one piece you want to share that is fine, but if you have a whole series that is fine too. try not to submit in excess make sure each work belongs in the series, it shouldn’t be a portfolio of your varying works.

8) when is the submission window open?

the submission window will be open for a week, then the following week we update the site with the new submissions. the exact date will vary so please please check up on our instagram for updates (@sincereyscatterbrained).

9) how often will the site be updated?

our plan now is to update the site once a month. we would take the submissions and do a large drop of content and leave it on the site for a month. with each drop we would change up the home screen background and move the old posts to an archive folder. the old content can still be viewed in the archive but it will no longer live on the home page.
this could change in the future but this is how it will be for now.

10) what is the featured tab?

the featured tab is a new edition to the site. it is a place where we will be putting content that is seperate from the submissions, such as interviews. we want to post on here periodically so viewers have something new to look at after they have been through the new submissions.

11) i am a creative who wants to do a feature, what should i do?

if you are interested in doing an interview for the site please email us and we can try to connect. we do not have a team of writers, so we will not be doing press releases and such on the site at this time. but we would love to conduct an interview about a specific project you have coming out.
